Simply been TOO long...

Hello friends...

I know, it has been too long, since I've updated this blog. I'm sorry for that. But, now that we're perfect strangers, we have the chance to become reaquainted with each other. That sounds fun, right?

I'm going to do my best to keep this blog updated going forward. Maybe now would be a good time to follow me on here, to stay up to date & motivate me. ;)

Simply sweet movies...

So, last night I watched Julie & Julia. It was so super cute & heart warming. I would totally recommend everyone watches it. I promise, you can't watch it with out smiling through out the movie. Both actress' did a wonderful job with their characters & the actors did equally well playing the husbands. Check it out. :)

Simply Beautiful Quotes...

"Whatever comes, cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. It would be easy to be a princess if I were dressed in cloth of gold, but it is a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it."

Simply Beautiful Etsy Finds...

I love her handmade signs & her tea towels are absolutely adorable.

Simply Beautiful Tats...

I don't have any tats. Do you?

I've wanted to get one for so long now. I either want a quote that means something to me & gives me inspiration for my first one, or I want an image of something that provides the same purpose. We'll see...

Simply Beautiful Recipies...

Tis the season...To drink champagne and boy do I love champagne. Here are some fun champagne ideas I found online!

Passionfruit Sorbet - So easy just place half the sorbet in a blender with half the sparkling wine. Process until well combined. Pour into 4 chilled glasses.

Strawberry Kiwi - This one is a little more work but still so simple even the kids could do it. In a medium bowl, scoop out the insides of 2 cut kiwis with a regular teaspoon. Add cut strawberries and mash the fruit with the back of a fork until a fairly smooth paste is formed. Place about 1 tablespoon of the fruit paste in the bottom of each glass and fill with cider or Champagne. Garnish with the whole strawberries and sliced kiwi.

Raspberries and Amaretto - Mash the raspberries well with a fork, stir in the mint and put a teaspoon of this mixture into the bottom of each glass. Add the Rose Water and Amaretto, stir well and top up with the chilled champagne. Serve immediately.

Pomegranate juice - Just add 1 tablespoon to each glass.

Grapefruit juice - Just add 1 tablespoon to each glass.

There are so many fun, festive options - you can even come up with your own house signature champagne cocktail then pick a funny name like the Social Affliction or the Couture Buzz. Cheers!

Simply Beautiful Bailey...R.I.P.

"If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went."
~Will Rogers

This morning we awoke to a horrible sight. Around 4:00am this morning, we smelled & heard something unsettling. Originally I thought maybe something was leaking or perhaps that I was just hearing things. Rob got out of bed at that moment & turned on the bathroom light so I knew atleast I wasn't hearing things. He let Bailey out & then told me that I might not want to look, but that she had been deficating blood.

Originally I didn't want to look. But the smell was so horrible, I think out of instinkt I wanted to see what had happened. I saw up in bed where I have a clear line of sight in to the kitchen & the kitchen floor. I couldn't believe it. Honestly, having just woken up, I couldn't fathem what had happened in our kitchen. I looked like a murder scene. No exageration.

Picture someone with a gallon jug of blood, pouring it randomly around your kitchen floors. You have a pretty good idea of what it looked like. I automatically felt so sick to my stomach. Like, almost puking sick. I got up to go to the bathroom because I really felt like I might lose it. Rob cleaned up the floor. Thank you for that. There was no way i could. He's stronger than me in the ability to stomach shit like that.

Then, all night, we let Bailey in, she'd have an accident, Rob would let her out. She'd bark till we would let her inside. Then Repeat. All morning.

My alarm came all too soon at 6:10am this morning. I got up and started to get ready to shower & Rob let Bailey out again. He then went to bed because he has to work this evening. While I showered I looked out the window at Bailey and saw what she was going through. It broke my heart. I was crying in the shower. I let her in, I let her out, again, repeat.

When it was time for me to leave for work, I opened the door to let her in before I had to go & I saw her laying in a hole we had in the ground from a pond we had dug up. I called her inside, laid her on the floor and cried. I said my good byes. I knew there was a chance that since I had to work, this would be the last time I see her.

I went to work & I wasn't there for long before I was excused to go home because I was in no shape to work.

I came home and Rob & I said goodbye to Bailey, again. Rob was taking her to the vet. We aren't stupid. We know when something is severely wrong with our pets. We don't have childen, so we've bonded very closely with our pets. We knew that whatever this was that was wrong with Bailey, she more than likely wasn't going to overcome it.

Rob was braver than I could ever be & took her in. The vet explained that it wasn't time to throw the towel in yet. That there was a parasite that had been going around in animals here and its possible that perhaps she has that. So we left Bailey at the vets for a few hours while they ran multiple tests.

Then, Rob got "the" call.

Basically, Bailey had sudden onset severe diabetes. Her organs were shutting down & she lost so much blood because her body was expelling what it could no longer process.

I can't type anymore... so I'll leave it at this...

Bailey, we were blessed to have found you. We fell in love with you when we adopted you, we fought to keep you. You brought so much silliness in to our lives with your adorable personality, your curiosity & ability to eat ANYTHING (a tub of butter, a jar of peanut butter, upwards of 50 loafs of bread over the years, godiva chocolate, coffee grounds, beeswax beads, ect...)... You were an adorable, affectionate, loving little angel who I'll never forget. I know you were a Papa's girl, but remember, I loved you with all my heart.

xoxo

Till I see you again,

Me

Simply Beautiful Arizona..

I bought a cactus.

A week later it died...

& I got depressed, because I thought,

"Damn, I'm less nurturing than a desert."

I miss Arizona... I've been back for a couple days & I miss the dry heat, the beautiful newness of everything there, the gorgeous desert vegetation & the chance to explore...

Simply Beautiful People doing WONDERUL things..

Audrey & Eldad Hagar never imagined that when they began photographing the hundreds of fostered dogs (and other creatures) who came through their home, that they would actually create a book. They just wanted to remember the animals they had shared great memories with.

Below is their short story about a little dog named Bradley...(so sad!).

"We rescued Bradley from the shelter last night, and today I took him to a neurologist. The doctor had only sad news for Bradley...We agreed he should go to sleep and not suffer this severe hydrocephalus. (as you can see, his head is weirdly shaped due to a lot of fluids in his head / brain).I didn't want to let him go yet, so from the vet I took Bradley to the beach, I sat with him, played with him, and I fed him many cheeseburgers and fried chicken. We sat there for two hours, and after that I took him to the vet's office right on the beach, and he went to sleep forever :-(It was such a sad day... I cried like a baby for this little guy. Even now when I am typing these words, tears are coming to my eyes..." (The end)

Please visit their website & help them save more animals. All they ask is for people to buy the book about their rescue work... this will help them pay the medical bills & all the expenses involved in animal rescuing. (The book cost only $9.95. It has a 100 pages of full color photos and stories that will make you laugh and cry).
* You can buy the book at Hope For Paws.*

Simply Beautiful Sangria...

Ingredients
1 Bottle of white wine
1 cup peach schnapps
1/2 cup frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 nectarines, sliced
1 cup green or red grapes whole or sliced

Directions
Combine all incredients in a large pitcher.
Cover and chill at least 2 hours or overnight.
Stir.

Makes 8 servings

Pack & go! Planning a picnic? A day at the beach? A day with girlfriends on the back patio? Stir up this refreshing sangria first thing in the morning or on the night before and store in a tightly sealed container. One great Idea that I saw was someone used jars with lids on them. You can decorate the outside of them to make them cute for the occasion even. And word of advise, don't add ice until you're serving it. You don't want to delute all the yummy sangria! :)

Simply Beautiful Bob Marley

“One good thing about music, when it hits- you feel no pain”

“In this bright future you can't forget your past.”

“Don't worry about a thing, every little thing is gonna be alright”

Bob is one of the few people I can listen to & no matter what happened that day, no matter what drama unfolded, it doesn't matter. Talk about a man who truely believed in peace & happiness amongst men (& women) :) Thank you Bob for providing me with lyrical therapy! xoxo

An Irish Blessing...

“May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow. May the soft winds freshen your spirit. May the sunshine brighten your heart. May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you, and may mother earth enfold you in the mantle of her love.”

There was a storm with thunder last night. It lasted nearly all night & it's still raining now. It was so lovely. I love sleeping and listening to the rain. So peaceful & fresh. It almost makes you feel like its washing away all of the bullshit from yesterday & giving you a fresh start...
